We made it here, eventually.
In true Kuro fashion, we were so invested providing our clients with a level of service up to our standards, we let starting a newsletter slide through the cracks...for 10 years. In this first edition, we want to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves, show you the kinds of things we'll be covering monthly, and drop a few quick updates on our recent happenings.
Kuro provides Legal Technology Management (LTM, where we help firms who are interested in hosting Legal Technology (i.e iCONECT), Forensics and eDiscovery services with a focus on small and medium sized law firms, federal agencies and corporate legal teams. We also have a strong modern data practice (Purview/Teams/Slack/Social). In 2020, we launched Converse Data, one of the first processing engines for mobile phone data. Today, we use it to reign in modern attachments, corporate messaging (Slack/Teams/etc) collections and Social Media collections. Fun fact, Converse was used in a landmark multi-district federal case to process thousands of social media accounts for review.
In 2025, our acquisition of Perin Discovery in Denver greatly expanded our forensic capabilities and geographic reach. Now, we want to take the time to engage with our community through a newsletter that you actually find useful.
Our leadership teams comes from law firm, legal software and litigation support vendors. One of the best parts about being a high touch provider is getting a behind-the-scenes view to the eDiscovery and forensics practices that work.
That's a big driving force behind the content here: we'll share the good and the not so good.
A note from our CEO
One of our biggest blindspots is talking the talk. For 10 years, we’ve been focused on making sure we can deliver. We’ve been walking the walk and I’m really proud to be a part of this Kuro team. Today, we are fortunate to have attracted the talent to help us tell our community what we are seeing, and how we solving some of our industry's biggest challenges. Matter by matter. It's not always a home run, sometimes it's a bunch of base hits.
Over the years, there have been iconic industry resources. In my early days in the industry, it was the Yahoo listservs and several amazing bloggers before our industry had influencers. Our mandate was not to be either of these. Our hope is to share tactical information with our network. The things we deal with day in and day out. What we would share with you on a scoping call or during expert prep.
Who launches a newsletter 10 years in? Leave it to me to wait until I truly felt we had something worthwhile to share. The truth is, we always have, since day one.
If you are reading this, thank you. We appreciate you.
-Alex
